Takeaways:
- Charisma is three things, presence, power and warmth
- Body language is 80% of communication and this is governed by your internal state (so how you feel and your true intentions really matter)
- Preparation is very helpful and getting into the right internal state before
- Charisma is a learnt skill that can be practiced and improved
Presence
- People (really) like to feel important – focusing on them does this
- Eye contact
- Meditation – good to practice presence and focus
- Being in the moment with the other person
Warmth
- Warm eyes – large focus
- Compassion and love towards the other person
- Meditation and the compassion part can help with this
Power
- Big chimp posture – chest out and upright
- Slow talking
- Little movement
- No fidgeting
- Visualization of a moment when you felt “On top of the world” is a good practice to do to get into this state of charisma
- A good one for when you are in a group situation and want to lead
Visionary Charisma
- Another type of charisma and uses the other 3 especially power
- Takes advantage of the fact that people love certainty
- Complete commitment into a “vision”
My current areas to improve:
- Visionary charisma (this is the top one) I think could be super effective and useful in every day. Have a vision for something and commit to it with everything you have. Could be super useful.
- Power charisma
- Getting out of a bad internal state.
